Case Study: Maomao Mountain Coal Mine, Shanxi Province – AI-Dry Coal Sorting and Kaolin Extraction

Introduction:

Maomao Mountain Coal Mine, located in Shanxi Province, is renowned for its 1/3 coking coal. With an annual coal output of approximately 5.00 Mt, the mine is poised for expansion to 10.00 Mt per year. The coal seams are rich in gangue and kaolinite, presenting significant sorting challenges. Maomao Mountain invested in a state-of-the-art dry coal sorting and kaolinite beneficiation system to enhance economic efficiency and streamline operations.

Project Overview:

Location: Maomao Mountain Coal Mine, Shanxi Province

Current Coal Output: 5.00 MT/A

Planned Expansion: 10.00 MT/A

Challenges: High gangue content and coal kaolinite, absence of a complementary mine coal plant.

Solution:

Advanced Dry Coal Sorting and Kaolinite Extraction System:

To address the sorting challenges and improve economic efficiency, Maomao Mountain implemented an advanced dry coal sorting and kaolinite extraction system. This system includes multiple production lines and specialized machinery designed to handle the complex sorting requirements.

Production Capacity: Two production lines, each processing 5 million tons of raw coal per year.

Processing Particle Size: Deep pre-discharge of gangue from 25mm-300mm raw coal and extraction of kaolin from 25mm-300mm sorted gangues.

Equipment and Performance:

1. Dry Coal Sorting:

Machines Used: Two Golden Coal FHG-2800-X dry coal sorting machines

Processing Capacity: Each machine >280 t/h

Function: Sorts 50 mm-300 mm raw coal, producing three products

2. Kaolin Extraction (50mm-300mm Rejects):

Machines Used: Two Golden Coal FHG-1600-C dry coal sorting machines

Processing Capacity: Each machine >160 t/h

Function: Extracts kaolin from sorted gangues

3. Deep Gangue Pre-Rejection (25mm-50mm Raw Coal):

Machines Used: Two Circle Series FHG-3400-T dry coal sorting machines

Processing Capacity: Each machine >200 t/h

Function: Deeply pre-rejects gangue from raw coal

4. Kaolin Extraction (25mm-50mm Gangues):

Machines Used: Two Insight Series FHG-SC2400 sensor-based dry coal sorting machines

Processing Capacity: Each machine >90 t/h

Function: Extracts kaolin from sorted gangues

Sorting Results:

Efficient Sorting:

  • Enhanced separation of coal and gangue
  • High-quality kaolin extraction

Benefits and Outcomes:

Economic Efficiency: Improved profitability through enhanced sorting and extraction processes

Environmental Impact: Reduced gangue storage and landfill, promoting sustainable mining practices

Operational Efficiency: Streamlined sorting process, reducing manual labor and improving safety

Conclusion:

The implementation of the advanced dry coal sorting and kaolinite extraction system at Maomao Mountain Coal Mine has revolutionized its operations, enhanced economic efficiency, and promoted sustainable mining practices. This project demonstrates the significant benefits of integrating cutting-edge technology in coal sorting and mineral extraction.
